Grief is insidious, imposing and demands to be felt, with an insistence that needs no sleep. Grief presses on your heart and chronically imposes on your peace. But grief isn’t some evil force that’s only there to cause you pain. Grief draws up an even deeper feeling, a truth about your life, how deeply you cared about someone, what you value, need and how far you have come in your life. There is no way to move through grief without making contact with it. Either you allow yourself to encounter the feelings or you remain encased in a shell of yourself under a misguided sense of self protection. You must go through the “muck” to get to the light.

Author Mark Nepo quotes “The pain is necessary to know the truth, but we don’t have to keep the pain alive to keep truth alive “
